Old Cars

I struggle with my love of cars.  The problem… I don’t like anything that is currently being made.  I just cannot bring myself to say that there is any one car currently on sale that I am dying to have.  (I have to say that I love my Challenger, but I love it because it is so close to the classic.)

I was watching Top Gear today and they had a retrospective about Saab.  They went through the old stuff and some of the new stuff.  I sat there thinking, “I need a Saab 99 in my life”.  All of the newer stuff I could not be bothered with.  I think that it speaks volumes to what I like in a car.  At this point I cannot see myself buying any new car…. really ever.

People keep asking me what I think of the Toybaru (which is being sold as a throwback to the AE86), and I think I surprise them with my answer.  I tell them that it is going to flop.  The toybaru is too expensive, and has to much competition.  But the truth is even if I had the money in hand, I would rather have the AE86 Carrolla which it tries to recreate.
